The Mission of the Agronomy Division is to increase the productivity and profitability of Export Agriculture Crops through proper cultivation methods using appropriate agronomic practices.

Current Research Programs

  • Delivering a package of good agronomic practices for cultivation of cardamom under natural and gliricida shade.

  • Development of potting media for Export Agriculture Crops

  • Studies of the effect of harvesting maturity stage on subsequent pepper production.

  • Development of an integrated nutrient management system for Export Agricultural Crops by increasing the nutrient uptake efficiency using mycorrhizassociations.

  • A case study on correlations among sustainable soil indicators, crop management factors and productivity of existing small holding black pepper in mid country wet-zone.

  • Maintenance of coffee seed garden for production of planting materials

  • Expansion of vanilla cultivation under rubber plantations

  • Development of technologies  for rehabilitation of high yielding cocoa.
